UK Synthesist Andy Pickford just released a new album: Dreamwell Chilled (vol 1).
Andy writes: “Well, here’s my new release and if you read below my write-up will tell you all you need to know. Basically, I felt I’d built up a large amount of material in recent years and wanted to do something more with it, perhaps showcase it in another form. I also thought I’d give the global distribution thing another try. So I got this idea, called it “Dreamwell”, and thought I could create a mix out of new, shorter, or remixed versions of stuff going back several years as well as recent. Some intricate work involved but the end result sounds great. Now, in terms of distribution 6 volumes Dreamwell will appear over the coming months, in general places like iTunes, Spotify, etc. 3 volumes of even more chilled stuff (imaginatively called Dreamwell Chilled), will come out on Bandcamp. These mixes are quite effective at taking your mind off stressful things. Yeah At some point, all of these will appear on Bandcamp as well as everywhere else. But there’s no rush Volume 1 of 3 retrospective remix compilations.I have produced a vast amount of music in recent years and, as always none of it ever reaches its full potential, but that’s “EM” for ya.Therefore I felt it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to present some of it in shortened, remixed form as part of a progressive mix. A good old Chillout album if you like. There are also 6 volumes of Dreamwell being released by the global distribution service (Sony) AWAL over the coming weeks. These will be available everywhere but not here… not yet All the Dreamwells are progressive short-form mixes like this one… they’re all chillout really, perhaps not as specially prepped remixes as the chilled volumes, but honestly there’s little difference, apart from those 6 will have global distribution first, before coming to Bandcamp later in the year. These Dreamwell chilled collections will then join their counterparts on AWAL later in the year.Well it’s different isn’t it? Truthfully, I don’t see Bandcamp ever having the scope to expand anyone’s musical influence as it needs. In fact it’s pretty much a limited audience, as sales of my last few releases have sadly shown. So I don’t see concentrating on this site as wise in the long term. That’s why I’ve taken to global distribution again. Hopefully it will attract some newbies Overall, I think you’ll enjoy these mixes I’ve done. You’ll need to hear the complete 16bit mix though if your player hasn’t the means to play the individual tracks (24bit FLAC) concurrently. I have included the .txt label track in the download, so that you can create your own CD version if you wish.”
