Jan Hammer has a new album out: Seasons part 2. And he will be guest in John Diliberto’s Echoes show on September 20, 2022. You can find it here.
“Jan Hammer came to renown as the keyboardist with the fusion group, The Mahavishnu Orchestra. He went on to a string of solo albums and collaborations with artists like Jeff Beck, John Abercrombie, Neil Schon of Journey, and Al Di Meola. Then in 1984, he began composing the score for TV’s Miami Vice, one of the signature shows and themes of the 1980s. He won several Grammy awards, got Emmy nominations that he probably should have won and was featured on the covers of Keyboard Magazine and others. It was a long journey for the Czechoslovakian born and raised keyboardist, who started out as a jazz musician. But for most of this millennium, the keyboardist has been silent. But Jan Hammer is back with a new solo record, Seasons Pt 2. We talked to him in 2018 when Seasons Pt.1 was released. We revisit that interview as Jan Hammer casts back on his long and influential career on Echoes.”
