Some years ago we spent holidays in the Harz in Germany. As you may know this area was partly located in East Germany (DDR). These days you can find a lot of DDR nostalgica, such as parts of the physical border (and border security measures) and many towns still breathe the DDR atmosphere.

In Thale (where is Thale? scroll down) you’ll find the DDR museum, which exhibits objects and stories from the DDR. One of the exhibitions shows us which equipment was used for (recording) music and home audio. Also a vermona synth (or is it an organ..?) can be found in the museum.

Thale is located just between Quedlinburg and Blankenburg, in the Northern region of the Harz.
