Electronics Today – 4066B Design tips

Each issue of ETI magazine (Electronics Today International) featured a ‘designers notebook’ article. Sometimes providing interesting design ideas that can be of interest to syntheser / electronic music equipment builders.

In the May 1985 issue, this article featured the 4066B CMOS ic, with which the authors design different circuits, such as:

  • Digitally controlled resistance, capacitor, impedance, amplifier gain or oscillator frequency in discrete steps.
  • Digital controlled frequency of a 555 oscillator
  • Digitally controlled first-order low pass filter
  • Synthesized multi-gang potentiometer

The 4066 switch is also used in sequencer designs, which we will upload in the near future.
