New Order will perform live in the Ziggo dome, Amsterdam (NL), September 23, 2023.
Rising from the ashes of Joy Division, New Order overcame tragedy to become one of the most influential and acclaimed bands of all time. New Order’s debut album Movement (1981) was overshadowed by Joy Division’s sound; then the band combined post-punk with influences from the New York club scene, resulting in the album Power, Corruption & Lies (1983). 1983 also saw the release of Blue Monday, a mega hit that became the best-selling 12-inch single of all time, selling more than 3 million copies worldwide.
New Order went on to release the albums Low-Life (1985), Brotherhood (1986), Substance (1987), and Technique (1989). After a break, Republic (1993), Get Ready (2001) and Waiting for the Sirens’ Call (2005) followed.
Phil Cunningham joined the band in 2001 followed by Tom Chapman in 2011 they now form the band along with founding members Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert. The band released their critically acclaimed tenth studio album, Music Complete, in 2015, featuring guest vocals from Iggy Pop, Brandon Flowers and Elly Jackson of La Roux.
