There are quite a few websites offering synthesizers to play online. Without any hardware required that is (well a computer or tablet is what you need). We found playtronica, which offers synths to play with a midi controller or with keyboard and mouse. Some great synths are there too, such as the DX-7 and Juno-60, and even a modular system.
