Update September 15, 2022: Jack McGaughey from Liverpool (UK) is the winner of the Minimoog.
The latest member of the Bob Moog Foundation Minimoog winner’s club is a U.S.-born young working musician living in the U.K.
We shared the big news with Jack on Friday afternoon after choosing our winner via a random number generator.
We were delighted to learn that he’s a member of The Bluejays, a 1950s rock ‘n’ roll band that’s performed with Brian May at the wedding of May’s daughter! McGaughey is also a recent graduate of Sir Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where he studied performance.
In a truly poetic turn of events, he’s a fan of both Billy Joel and David Rosenthal.
Only a couple of days are left before the raffle ends on August 31st. By buying tickets (to help funding the Bob moog foundation) you have the chance to win a Minimoog, signed by Billy Joel.
These are the rules for the Raffle.
The raffle for this vintage beauty signed by one of the most beloved and best-selling American musicians of all time begins on August 1, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. ET, and ends on August 31, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. ET, or when all 5,000 tickets sell out – whichever comes first. All ticket sales support our work inspiring future generations of innovators through the intersection of science, music, and technology.
The Bob Moog Foundation is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation under the laws of the state of North Carolina for the primary purpose of preserving and honoring the legacy of Bob Moog through science, education, and historical preservation. The Bob Moog Foundation 2022 Minimoog Raffle is conducted for the purpose of generating operating funds that allow the Foundation to continue and expand its work.
Purchase one or more raffle tickets during the raffle, and you will be entered in a drawing to win a fully restored vintage Minimoog synthesizer, serial number 8486. Raffle tickets are $25 each, 5 for $100, 12 for $200, or 35 for $500. Odds of winning are based on the number of ticket entries purchased, which has been capped at 5,000. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to enter.
Past and current employees of the Bob Moog Foundation and Moog Music, Inc. are not eligible for entry. Past winners are not eligible for entry (we love you guys, but let’s give someone else a turn!).
The raffle is open to participants worldwide. Contest void where prohibited. Raffle begins at 7 a.m. on August 1, 2022, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on August 31, 2022, or once all 5,000 tickets have been sold, whichever comes first. All times referenced are Eastern Time.
Ticket purchase will be confirmed via email. No physical tickets will be sent.
HOW TO ENTER: Go to the Bob Moog Foundation’s online store for more details and complete your purchase of an entry/ticket fee with your credit card.
SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS: The winner will be selected at random and announced on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
Once submitted, entries become the sole property of the Bob Moog Foundation and will not be returned. The winner will be notified by telephone and/or email. If a potential winner(s) cannot be reached within 15 days from the first notification attempt, or if an entrant is found to be ineligible, such prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner(s) will be selected by random drawing.
Grand prize is a fully restored vintage Minimoog synthesizer signed by Billy Joel. The Bob Moog Foundation can make no guarantees about the technical functionality of the instrument once it is shipped.
The outside appearance of the instrument is in excellent condition, with minor flaws commensurate with a vintage instrument. The estimated value of the instrument is in excess of $10,000.
A winner will be drawn at random and announced on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
